According to Seeker and the Science Channel, some of astronaut Scott Kelly's gene expression has been permanently altered by his time spent in space. Kelly spent a year in space, and although most of his gene expression levels returned to normal upon his return to Earth, about 7 percent did not. NASA conducted a study of Scott and his twin brother Mark to see how space can affect the body, a study which will help safeguard the health of future astronauts.
