The National Museum of Gospel Music in Chicago is built on the same site once occupied by the Pilgrim Baptist Church, known as the birthplace of gospel, before it was destroyed in a 2006 fire. The museum claims to pay homage to gospel music legends and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2020. Those who donate $20 or more will receive a souvenir lapel pin.
