Three major British stars dominate the U.S. TV ad space this week. The iSpot.tv team decided to dig in and see how their commercials are being received.
Keira Knightley stars in the Coco Chanel spot “Chase.” The stylish commercial set to The Zombies’ “She’s Not There” has a 77% positive sentiment rating and a national SpotShare of 0.97%, ranking the spot at #9 overall on iSpot’s National Leaderboard.
Audi’s “Dues” and “Names” spots, advertising the Audi 2015 A3, feature Ricky Gervais leading a group of unlikely celebrities through a rendition of Queen’s “We Are the Champions,” and, with typical Gervais humor, listening to his niece read aloud nasty tweets aimed at Ricky himself. As a brand, Audi’s spots always produce a positive overall sentiment according to iSpot research, and “Dues” is no different with a positive rating of 78.1%, and “Names” squeaking ahead with 81%.
Finally, HTC shakes things up with a set of anti-ads featuring Gary Oldman, titled “Blah, Blah, Blah” and “Go Ahead, Ask The Internet.” The spots feature the acclaimed actor telling us that HTC’s new One (M8) simply exists and that you shouldn’t take his word for it that it’s a great phone — instead, you should check the internet. The sentiment for the former is 52% and it has a national SpotShare of 1.07%, ranking it at #10 overall; the sentiment for the latter is 69% positive and it has a SpotShare of 0.92%, ranking it at #14 as of March 27.
