Carley was a phone scam victim who was lured into a photography assignment in Jakarta. She was told that she would need to pay for her travel expenses and would need to pay $1,500 for a photography permit which her driver would hold. She and her husband would later watch that same driver hand off her cash to a stranger on a motorcycle. Although she's embarrased by the incident, she wants to raise awareness on the rise of phone scammers who are continuously looking for people to take advantage of. For people who lost $1,000 or more to a phone scam, T-Mobile believes up to 75 percent of the victims claim the caller was already in possession of critical personal information before the call was made. The telecommunication company says its Scam Shield service can protect its customers from phone scams.
