Verizon engineer John Foley was present when Bob Barnett made the first cellular phone call in 1983. He and Barnett were both working on the first wireless network, which would later become Verizon. Everyone thought the idea of a wireless network was unreasonable at the time, but Foley insists that sometimes being first involves being unreasonable. That's why he is proud to have been involved back then and proud to be involved now as Verizon rolls out its 5G Ultra Wideband Wireless Home Network in an effort to transform lives by creating more connectivity.
