Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is a spokesperson for Pepsi... sort of. In the hilarious commercial that aired during NFL Football on CBS, we see the football player sporting a fur hat and sitting next to a blonde woman who speaks while he mouths her words. Marshawn -- or, the woman -- says he at first was hesitant about being the spokesperson since he doesn't like to speak, but that he agreed to at least move his lips. He goes full on "Speech Mode" when the woman voices the "glug, glug, glug" sound effect as Lynch takes a slug of his Pepsi.
iSpot Review - September 29, 2015
In a spin on the traditional celebrity endorsement, Pepsi
chose Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch as the spokesperson for
their latest campaign created by BBDO New York.
Lynch, who is notorious for refusing to talk to the press,
is certainly an unlikely choice for a spokesperson. But as Marshawn begins to
speak, it quickly becomes clear this is no ordinary commercial. Apparently, to
convince him to star in the ad, Pepsi employed a woman to read all of his lines
for him, so that all he has to do is move his lips - no talking required. The result
is a fun, original spot that lets Marshawn be Marshawn and is perfect for
football season.
