Red paint drips from a brush tip, and dozens of people carry pieces of bed frames and mattresses onto a beach. They begin constructing the beds and painting red numbers on white sheets of paper. Each finished bed is labeled with one of numbers. In the end, they have constructed 6,000 beds, one for each victim of domestic violence that is turned away from shelters every day due to a lack of funding. Verizon has started HopeLine, a program intended to give support to these victims. The program is funded partially with profits earned through HTC pre-paid phone bundles.
