iSpot Review - July 8, 2015

Scion waxes poetic about boxing and automobiles in this TV commercial. The creative idea is built around a narrator reciting boxing poetry in the spirit of Muhammad Ali, which evokes the power and strength of the finest fighters.

The blunt point to this fine rhyme: "Our car will knock you out."

The creative team has given us ample time to watch the car roam the lonely streets and listen to the narrator extol the virtues of sport and steel. Like Lincoln with Mathew McConaughey and Sam Elliott for Dodge, it's a strong, thoughtful man's approach to creative that is gaining traction in auto advertising.

The voiceover work, while solid, is not quite the street-tough sound one expects to go with this work, but it carries the story well enough.

Kia's compelling poetic copy combined with up-close-and-personal time in the car's interior should pack a persuasive punch.
